"Scripps provided me a remarkable start in life and the sense that there were no limits to what I could accomplish.

It was heady stuff. The fall of 1964 was a historical moment when the choices for women seemed unlimited. We read "The Feminine Mystique" for our freshman book and were inspired by dynamic instructors, each other and the entrepreneurial example of Ellen Browning Scripps.

I carried that confidence into a life that moved through founding a free women's health clinic, almost a decade as an award winning television producer and serial entrepreneur. Each chapter had its rewards but most satisfying was entrepreneurship. The ability to create, build and sell a business is extraordinarily rewarding. And, it has the potential to provide financial independence. Think of all the good you can do with that money! EBS understood that.

Women continue to be massively underrepresented as entrepreneurs. I am leaving a bequest to Scripps in my will to support entrepreneurship. It is my hope there would be a time when all Scripps graduates consider the option and rewards of entrepreneurship as a path to self determination."
