Marjorie Thompson Burgeson ’50

Marjorie Thompson BurgesonAs a student, Marjorie Thompson Burgeson '50 benefited greatly from opportunities in the fine arts department. She built rich relationships with faculty mentors, received scholarship aid, and gained valuable experience in a part-time job at the art gallery. These factors made a difference not only in her ability to attend Scripps College but also in the legacy she would eventually leave to the College. Marjorie left a $27,000 bequest to honor her mentors and benefit scholarships that impacted her experience. With thoughtful planning she designated the portions of her bequest to the Albert Stewart and Phil Dike Memorial Scholarships, as well as the Fine Arts Scholarship. The largest piece of the allocation was given to the Williamson Gallery to provide for the care of the permanent collection.
