An Unexpected Gift

Leslie Grimes Kinkaid graduated in 1982 as a history major at Scripps College.

Leslie Grimes Kinkaid '82 graduated with a major in history and was an active member of the Scripps community. Although Leslie died much too early, while living she had already made a provision in her will for Scripps College to be a beneficiary of her estate.

The College was unaware of Leslie's bequest until the estate was realized after her passing. Although her intention to make a gift to Scripps College was completely clear, she did not leave a specific directive for the use of her gift. As is the case with every bequest, donors want to see the gift benefit the College in a way that is meaningful not only to them but to the College as well.

Ultimately her gift, totaling more than $180,000, benefits a great many students, staff, and faculty at the College. Leslie's generous gift was allocated to the Scripps Fund, which helps meet the operating budget of the College.
